The Handicapped Shower Is Terrific For The Disabled And The Elderly

For people who struggle with mobility there are many pieces of equipment which make their lives easier. These are for every room in the home, however the room which typically needs the most change for the disabled person is the bathroom. The bathroom can often cause the disabled or handicapped person a lot of grief and embarrassment, but thankfully special designs are available to ease some of those issues. The Handicapped Shower is one thing that a disabled person simply can not live without.

The disabled or handicapped person wants to be able to bathe on their own. They want to be able to tend to their needs in private and  the handicapped shower makes this possible. These accessible showers allow the disabled to get in and out of the shower entirely on their own which will allow them the privacy to to wash on their own as they will have the proper rails to move themselves without the assistance of an aide. This is something that the disabled prefer if at all possible when it comes to their bathrooms.

In addition to a Handicapped Shower many disabled people would like their disabled bathrooms to include accessible bathtubs. In most cases the disabled shower will include a handicap accessible bathtub. This will allow them to choose either a bath or a shower, which is a pretty basic life choice. Think about,  the able bodied have a choice between taking a shower or a bath and so should the disabled person. They can decide depending on their mood and that is what makes the handicapped combination bath and shower so terrific!

A Handicapped Shower can typically be incorporated into any bathroom. The dimensions are normally the same as regular fixtures. The only difference is that it will be handicapped accessible. The shower will have rails, a seat and easy to work knobs that are able to be reached from a sitting position. The door that opens for the bathtub will be low, making it flush with the floor. The disabled will be able to easily get themselves into the bathtub or shower with little to no assistance. These showers are terrific for the disabled, as well as the elderly, or anyone that is mobile, however struggles to get into a traditional shower or bathtub.
